Publicly listed cyber security services provider Tesserent plans to acquire cyber security firm Loop Secure as a "strategic addition" to the company for a combined price of $13.5 million. Headquartered in Sydney and containing offices in Melbourne and Brisbane, Loop Secure offers managed security services, governance risk and compliance and offensive security services, as well as a security operations centre in Melbourne. The acquisition is being viewed as a “strategic addition to strengthen Tesserent’s Cyber 360 capabilities”, according to a statement published to the Australian Securities Exchange (ASX), with synergies and opportunities expected through its corporate relationships and skills.

Telstra’s IT services division, Telstra Purple, has acquired internet of things (IoT) specialists Alliance Automation and Aqura Technologies to bolster its capabilities in the field and expand into more verticals. Brisbane-based Alliance Automation bills itself as one of Australia’s largest independent providers of IoT industrial automation solutions and control systems, specialising in technical advisory and design, electrical and automation engineering, cybersecurity services and more. Perth-headquartered Aqura is a subsidiary of ASX-listed surveying services company Veris, and specialises in technology and telecommunications infrastructure solutions.

Sydney-based IT consulting firm Cloudwerx has secured a $7 million investment from private equity firm CVC Group to support its expansion. The investment was from CVC’s Emerging Companies Fund, which focuses on upstart Australian companies. Cloudwerx is part of the fund’s second iteration, which was launched in 2021. CVC said the investment was the first external capital that Cloudwerx received since it was founded in 2018. Cloudwerx co-founder and Chairman Roger Burgess said the company’s strategy is to partner with strategic businesses “who recognise the value of their offering”.

Telecommunications reseller Vonex has acquired Queensland wholesaler 2SG Wholesale for $2.66 million. The deal, set to complete early next year, will give Vonex access to 2SG’s 140-strong fleet of wholesale customers, significantly increasing its current base of just 20. Based in Brisbane, 2SG supplies hardware and connectivity solutions to Australian managed service providers, system integrators and internet service providers. It currently has partnerships with Optus, NBN Co and i-Seek Communications and supplies products including mobile broadband, voice, modems, routers, in addition to NBN fixed-line services. The wholesaler has partnerships with Optus, NBN Co and i-Seek Communications.
